AUGUSTA, Georgia - More canned meat products are being recalled by a Georgia meat processor following a recent botulism outbreak. Castleberry's Food Company is calling back more than more than 80 brands of canned chili, beef stew, corned-beef hash and other meat products, in addition to ten brands it recalled Thursday.
Many of the recalled products may have been distributed to a number of Idaho stores.
Food safety officials say an equipment malfunction may have been responsible for the contamination. Castleberry's owner Bumble Bee Seafoods voluntarily expanded the recall.
The expanded recall includes the products listed below with ALL "best by" and code dates. (The recall originally announced on July 18 affected only 10 products with "best by" dates from APR30 2009 through MAY22 2009)
The Great Value Chili products included in this recall are distributed and sold in Canada ONLY. The Great Value brand in the United States is not associated with Castleberry's or this recall.
