Falcons owner Blank delivers stern message on Vick
By Tom Curran NBCSports.comPosted: Jul.24, 2007, 9:45 pm EDT ATLANTA -- In a time where people in crisis employ bob-and-weave or smoke-and-mirrors techniques to avoid saying anything at all, it was nice to see Falcons owner Arthur Blank so wonderfully in touch with reality Tuesday.
In a surprisingly uninhibited press conference at his Atlanta office, Blank basically indicated that he's got a sword pointed below the belt of quarterback Michael (Ookie) Vick. And all he's waiting for is the go-ahead to swing it. The 64-year-old Blank was by turns sad, angry, forceful and disappointed but always in control of the message he sent in his first public words since Vick's indictment on federal dogfighting charges in Virginia. "This has been a difficult week in any way you can think of," Blank said at the start of the nearly 90-minute press conference. "The details of the indictment have touched the emotions of people across the country. I know that many people are deeply distraught and incited by what they read in the indictment. I am as well."
