SEATTLE, Wash. _ Yuniesky Betancourt had a career-high four RBIs, Adam Jones sparked the go-ahead rally in his much-anticipated season debut and the Seattle Mariners beat the Boston Red Sox 7-4 Friday night in Seattle.

Betancourt hit a three-run home run in the third inning off Jon Lester. The Boston pitcher, a native of Puyallup, allowed eight hits and four runs in four innings. It was the shortest of his three starts since overcoming the lymphoma that jeopardized his career.

The Mariners' Sean Green pitched two and two-thirds innings of one-hit ball to earn the win, and Seattle moved to within two and a half games of Los Angeles in the American League West.

J-J Putz got three outs for his 32nd save in 34 chances. David Ortiz had three hits including his 19th home run of the season, for Boston.
