WSU's Alex Brink: Accomplished but not without something to prove
PULLMAN, Wash. - The Cougars open fall camp with the most experienced quarterback in the PAC-10 by far in Alex Brink. But his accomplishments on the field have always been overshadowed by one thing.
Barring injury he could finish his career as WSU's all-time leader in touchdowns, passing yards, and nearly every other career category for quarterbacks. But fans have never given Brink the kind of respect that guys like Jason Gesser and Ryan Leaf earned so quickly.
Inside the lockerroom the senior has had no trouble earning respect and confidence. 50 career touchdown passes will do that. But that's the knock on Brink. He's never led the Cougs to a bowl game and is just 12-16 as the starter. Because of that he knows he still has plenty to prove. It's a lesson he's learned the hard way but has one last chance to rectify.
