You must meet these minimum qualifications for consideration
U.S. Citizen - with residency requirement
Possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment
Have previous work experience that qualifies for a *GS-5 level position or a bachelor's degree, or combination of education and experience.

The 5-step hiring process

Pass the test. Your name is added to national list awaiting tentative selection
Show up for Structured Oral Interview Exam, conducted by Border Patrol
Pre-employment background investigation, medical examination, drug test, fitness test, and possible polygraph exam

You're hired. Get ready for training
You be notified when and where to report for work and travel to the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia NM.
20 week of training includes: Immigration Law, Consitutional Lw, Statutory Authority, Firearms, Spanish, Physical Techniques, Driving, Operations, Practical and Written Evaculations
