CINCINNATI (AP) - Making his first start since coming back from shoulder surgery, Pedro Martinez has become the 15th pitcher to reach 3,000 career strikeouts.
The Mets right-hander reached the milestone in the second inning of today's game in Cincinnati fanning Cincinnati's Aaron Harang.
Martinez was congratulated by catcher Paul Lo Duca and fans applauded when the feat was noted on the scoreboard.
The 35-year-old Martinez had rotator cuff surgery last October.
