SEATTLE, Wash. - The New Orleans Saints finally got into the win column last night -- and it was at the expense of the Seattle Seahawks. The Saints beat Seattle 28-17 at Qwest Field before a national television audience.
It was the second straight sloppy loss for the Seahawks, who were shut out a week earlier at Pittsburgh, 21-0. Coach Mike Holmgren vowed during the week to fix Seattle's troubled running game. But star running back Shaun Alexander ran for just 35 yards on 14 carries last night.
Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck threw for 362 yards, his most since December of 2004, though most came with Seattle trying to overcome a three-touchdown deficit. Seattle's record is now 3-3. It was the first victory of the season for New Orleans, which is now 1-4.
