A new study in the Cochrane Library finds people who exercise are likely to have good balance in their older years.
Researchers reviewed 34 studies that looked at the effect of exercise on balance -- and found working out led to short-term improvements in balance ability.
One exercise didn't out-do another -- they found any form of exercise helped.
More information to consider: - Balance improvements were seen in walking speed, standing on one leg, and reaching forward without tipping over. - The exercises participants completed were walking, strength and balance training, dancing and tai chi.
