Sonics open tomorrow at Denver

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Sonics' 41st, and perhaps final season in Seattle, begins tomorrow at Denver. Seattle's home opener is Thursday night against Phoenix.

After practicing today, top Sonics rookie Kevin Durant is expected to start tomorrow as a guard-forward swingman.

Rookie forward Jeff Green is possible for the game. Both Durant and Green have been hobbled by ankle sprains.

Seattle center Robert Swift is unlikely to play because of continuing soreness in his surgically repaired right knee. With Swift out, Nick Collision is likely to start at center.

The other starters are Chris Wilcox at forward and Damien Wilkens at guard-forward. And, Earl Watson will start at point guard because Luke Ridnour is still adjusting to a mask he has to wear after breaking his nose.

The team says owner, Clay Bennett, will not make any comments tomorrow or Thursday about moving the team because he doesn't want to take away from the season and home openers. He's is expected to talk Friday about the future of the franchise.
