PULLMAN, Wash. - The Cougs lost to the Beavers 52-17 in the first meeting between the two teams since 2003, in a game packed with postseason significance.
The Beavers are nominally eligible for a bowl bid, and succesfully padded their record Saturday. They're 7-4 overall and 5-3 in the Pac-10 following their 29-23 victory over Washington last week, and their win over the Cougs Saturday night.
The Cougars could have become bowl eligible by winning their final two games. Coach Bill Doba's team is 4-6 overall and 2-5 in the Pac-10. The Cougars face Washington in the Apple Cup next Saturday in Seattle.
Doba said this week the Cougars would like a bowl bid as a parting gift to their record-setting senior quarterback, Alex Brink.
Washington State was favored by 3 points to beat the Beavers.
