Bulldogs battle Texas Tech in Great Alaskan Shootout semifinals
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Friday night's 9:00 p.m. semifinal matchup between Gonzaga University and Texas Tech in the Great Alaska Shootout, will be a re-match of a 2005 NCAA Tournament Second Round game played in Tucson, Arizona.
The Red Raiders ended Gonzaga's season 71-69 that day, sixth-seed Texas Tech rallying from a 13-point second-half deficit to upend third-seeded GU. The Bulldogs scored the first four points of the second half for a 42-29 advantage. The Red Raiders took the lead at 68-67 with 1:06 to play.
Gonzaga University senior David Pendergraft is the lone member of this year's Bulldog squad who played against Texas Tech in 2005, seeing just one minute of action with no statistics.
Two members of this year's Texas Tech team played in the NCAA meeting. Zeno Martin had 11 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists in 35 minutes, and Damir Suljagic had a pair of rebounds and an assist in his five minutes.
