New hoops rankings for Gonzaga and WSU

Posted: Updated:

It's week four in the NCAA Men's basketball rankings, and not much change in the polls for Gonzaga or Washington State after big wins for both programs.

Gonzaga is up two spots in the Associated Press Poll from #19 to #17.  The Bulldogs are coming off two big road wins, against St. Joe's and UConn.  No change for Gonzaga in the USA Today/Coaches poll despite the big wins.  The Zags remain at number #19.

The Washington State Cougars faced a tough challenge on the road against an undefeated Baylor team and prevailed, only to drop two places in the Associated Press Poll from six to eight.  The Cougars remain number six in the USA Today/Coaches poll for the second week in a row.

The undefeated Cougars travel to McCarthey Athletic Center on Wednesday to face off against the seven-and-one Bulldogs.  The battle of top 25 powers should be a good one, as Gonzaga tries to rebound from a 77-61 loss to the WSU last year.  Gonzaga is four-and-one in the last five meetings between the two teams.

The game will not be televised on KHQ.  The West Coast Conference has granted the television rights to ESPN, and ESPN has decided to air the game on ESPNU, which is only available to Direct-TV customers.  Fans who may be upset can give their thoughts to the WCC conference by calling (650) 873-8622 or ESPN at (860) 766-2000.
