SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga will look to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Tennessee on Saturday as they play Ray Giacoletti's former team - the Utah Utes.
Giacoletti coached at Eastern Washington before heading to Utah where he went 29-6 his first season and was named the 2005 Mountain West Coach of the Year. Later, a 14-15 season would send the coach packing. He came to Gonzaga as an assistant to Mark Few in 2007, replacing Bill Grier, who took the head coaching job at San Diego.
Monday's game between the Zags (9-4) and the Utes (8-3) will begin at 5 p.m. at McCarthey Athletic Center and will be broadcast live on KHQ TV. It will be the third meetings between Gonzaga and Utah, the last meeting having been at the Maui Invitational in 2002. Gonzaga 71-52 in a game that saw Ronny Turiaf come off the bench to score a then-career high 24 points.
