And the Winner is...

Last week, we went in for the long-awaited ultrasound.   After an hour and a half, we found out that our baby is healthy, developing right on track, and...

...a BOY!

This means that "Bun" now has a new name - Introducing Victor Keiser!

His first name comes from my paternal great-grandfather, and his middle name comes from my mother's side of the family.  His last name, of course, he gets from his dad.

We had one of those super-3-D ultrasounds, which are really cool to see.  They can flip back and forth from the regular ultrasound to the 3-D view, which was really cool.  We saw great images of Victor's heart - which was the primary reason for getting the super-ultrasound.  Both Billy and I have people in our families who were born with heart defects, so our doctor recommended that we keep a close eye on heart development.  According to the doctor we saw last week, everything looks right on target.  Of course, that doctor recommended we see a pediatric cardiologist in the next three weeks just to be sure.

We had such a great time looking at all the pictures of little Victor.  Both Billy and I were hoping for a little boy, for a number of reasons.  I'm just happy to hear that everything is healthy and to see that little person wiggling around.

During the ultrasound, Victor was balled up on one side of my belly, and wouldn't take his arms away from his face - I think we have a paparazzi-savvy baby in there.  The ultrasound tech kept jiggling my belly to make him move, but that just made him cover his face even more.

Telling our family and friends was a lot of fun.  We spent a good part of the weekend on the phone, spreading the news.  My father's response was pretty funny - I told him, "Dad, you're going to have a grandson", and that "...he has big strong arms."  Dad said, "Yeah, but can he jump?"  (My dad is a big basketball fan...go Cougs!)  My mom started shopping - I think she may have cleared out the L.L. Bean catalog this weekend.

When we found out the sex, the tech pulled up the image of Victor's "business", and we knew what it was almost instantly.  She said, "there's your gender..." and I blurted, "...we're having a boy!"  The smile on Billy's face was just awesome.   I don't know how they can tell, but the ultrasound tech said that Victor urinated twice during the ultrasound...I think it's pretty funny that he'll pee on camera, but will cover his face during pictures.

I'm extremely excited, and very proud right now.  I'm looking forward to getting advice from my friends who already have little boys - and pretty soon, we can start decorating!  But, I think the next step is going to be putting together my "birth plan".   Stay tuned!
