Dr. Nancy Stowell is passionately committed to the improvement of learning for all children in Spokane. For the past 35 years, her service to children has been demonstrated through her work as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, curriculum director, area director, associate superintendent, and currently as the superintendent of Spokane Public Schools.
Dr. Stowell believes that all children have the capability to be successful learners. It is through an aligned system of rigorous learning experiences, supportive relationships, and relevant real-life applications that the district is experiencing academic success for its students. This is at the core of the district's strategic priorities.Raised in Spokane, Dr. Stowell attended Washington State University where she earned a BA from the College of Science and Arts. She also has a Master's in Education and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration. She and her husband, Scott, have two grown children.
