Tri City 1, Spokane 0
SPOKANE, Wash. - For the second straight game in their Western Conference Final series, the Spokane Chiefs and the Tri City Americans went to two overtimes.
This time, Drew Hoff scored the game winner for Tri 4:17 in to give the Americans a 1-0 win over the Chiefs in game two of the Western Hockey League Western Conference finals Sunday night in Kennewick. The series is now tied at one game apiece.
Neither team scored in the first period as Tri City outshot Spokane 10-8. The Chiefs went 0-3 on the power play while Tri was 0-1.
Both teams failed to score again in the second period as the Chiefs outshot the Ams 14-11 in the stanza. Spokane killed off three Tri City power plays, including a 4-3 for 1:50.
The third period resulted in no scoring for the second straight game in this series, as the Chiefs outshot Tri 15-8 in the third. Chiefs goalie Dustin Tokarski got a piece of a Kruise Reddick shot netfront with less than 15 seconds left that came off the crossbar.
Spokane and Tri went scoreless again in the first overtime as Spokane outshot Tri 7-3. The Chiefs got the only power play of the OT, but came up empty on the scoreboard.
Drew Hoff scored the game winner for Tri Cities with a net front shot after a puck bounce off the end wall found his stick. Spokane outshot Tri 45-34 in the game.
The Chiefs will return home for Game 3 of their series with the Americans Monday night at 7pm.
