County Commissioners Rescind Emergency Order for Spokane River

SPOKANE, Wash. - Crews finished replacing the boat barrier upstream of Upriver Dam Tuesday.  At this afternoon's meeting and following a request from the City of Spokane, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) unanimously rescinded the emergency order that closed the river from the dam to the Millwood/Argonne Bridge.

The public is advised that the river is still dangerous and to always wear a flotation device when engaged in water sports of any kind.

Last month, rising flood waters and heavy debris destroyed the boat barrier that stretched across the river to the east of the dam.  The loss of the safety cable coupled with high water levels significantly increased the danger to the public.
