Spokane beats Eugene 6-4; Friday is fireworks night

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Indians just keep on winning with a 6-4 victory over the Eugene Emeralds Thursday night at Avista Stadium. With the win, the Indians extended their first place lead in the Northwest League East to two games over Tri-City.

The Indians paced themselves throughout the night with excellent hitting, compiling 15 hits on the game. Five of those hits came from second baseman Jason Ogata, who went 5-5 on the night with two RBIs. First baseman Jared Bolden finished the night 2-4 with a double and an RBI.

Starting pitcher Martin Perez went seven innings, allowing seven hits and only one run. Reliever Ryan Schlecht worked three innings and picked up the win, his second of the season.

The Indians return to Avista Stadium Friday for the second stanza of the five-game homestand against Eugene. Tomorrow night is Fourth of July Fireworks Night, presented by Comcast.
