Ten...Nine...

Posted: Updated:

Now that I'm into the single-digits on the countdown, time can't go fast enough.  I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to be pregnant forever.  Really, I shouldn't complain until I'm officially over-due.  But you know what?  I'm the pregnant lady here, and I'm going to complain anyway!

I can't sleep but I'm exhausted.  I'm motivated but energy-less.  I really want to hold my baby - from the outside!

I'm having a hard time discerning contractions from other pains and aches.  I know the "real" contractions are the ones that cramp me up and make my lower abdomen feel rock-hard.  Of course, there are all kinds of other gassy, bloaty, crampy, achy feelings to sort through to get to the contractions, too.  Nobody really tells you exactly what it feels like when you're a first-timer.  They'll tell you their experience, but it always starts out with "well, it's kinda like...." and then they'll lump like six different feelings together.  I've been told that when it's time, I'll feel constipated, I'll feel period-crampy, I'll feel like I'm fighting diarrhea, or my favorite - "You'll just KNOW".   Fair enough.

We celebrated our anniversary last week by going out to dinner, exchanging gifts, making the "last run" to Costco, and going out to the "last movie" (we saw "The Dark Knight" - it was FABULOUS, but it probably will be our last movie theater experience - it's just too cramped and uncomfortable (not to mention expensive) to go to the movies anymore.  At this point, we have a big TV and a great sound-system at home...oh yeah, and you can PAUSE to go to the bathroom!).  Vic reacted quite a bit to the sounds at the movie - punching me throughout the film.   It really adds an entirely different angle to the experience...

Billy has been so helpful and understanding lately.  He put up a hammock in the back yard for me this weekend.  Not only that, he helped "lower" my giant belly and I in and out of it.  One of the rings that I wear lost a stone this week, and Billy helped me cut the ring off of my finger (I had swollen far beyond getting it off myself).  I cried, having to cut off my birthstone ring that Billy gave me long before we were married - but after my mom told me stories of how she lost the stones in her wedding band once, I felt better.  I can't wait to be done with all of this swelling, too.

So to sum up today, we're STILL just waiting.  I'm really struggling to pull through the day anymore, and will admit that I wish I could take time off right now (but I'm saving it all until Vic arrives - I'd rather spend the time with him!).   The day after tomorrow marks the "one-week-to-go" point.   Our next doctor appointment is on Thursday...we'll see where we are then!
