Volcanoes Erupt in Series Opener

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Indians were defeated 14-2 by the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes Sunday night at Avista Stadium. With the loss, the Indians are still in first place in the Northwest League East by 5.5 games over the Boise Hawks.

All of the Volcanoes fourteen runs were scored in three innings, helped along by five Indians errors in those innings. Spokane first baseman Dennis Guinn had two of the Indians four hits on the night. Guinn finished the game 2-3 with a double.

Indians starter Richard Bleier went 3.2 innings, allowing 8 hits and 8 runs. Out of the eight runs, only 2 of them were earned.
