Spokane beats Vancouver 8-5; Now in 1st place by seven games
SPOKANE, Wash - The Spokane Indians lead in the Northwest League East is now at seven games over the second place Boise Hawks. The Indians took care of the Canadians 8-5 tonight at Avista Stadium and Boise fell to Salem-Keizer in extra innings 7-5.
Spokane played great all night long and was posting a shutout until the Canadians scored five runs in the top of the 9th, four of those runs coming off a grand slam by Jareck West. Indians third baseman Matt West finished the game 2 for 4 with two doubles and three RBI. Outfielder Mike Bianucci went 2 for 2 with two RBI and three walks.
Indians starter Neil Ramirez pitched just two innings as he continues to come back from an injury. Ramirez allowed no hits, walked one and struck out three. Wilfredo Boscan pitched five innings in relief to pick up his seventh win of the season. He allowed just three hits and no runs while fanning five batters.
The Indians return to Avista Stadium tomorrow for the third game of the five game homestand against Vancouver.
