He's Here!

"He's Here!"

It's been about a week since the last blog - and as you probably figured, we had our baby!

Baby Victor was born August 7th at 6:30 in the morning - 8lbs, 5oz and 21.75 inches.

Let me tell you (and I'm sure anyone else out there who's had this experience before me can relate), finding time to write (or bathe, for that matter) when you have a newborn at home is HARD.  Between feeding, loads of laundry, diaper-changes, my meals, catnaps and "mom maintenance" - there is little time for anything else!  I still haven't gotten around to calling all of my friends yet, let alone write a blog!  But I did say I'd try to write while I'm at home with him...so here it is!

The experience at the hospital was a good one - we induced labor last Wednesday morning and were finally holding our baby boy by the last half hour of the morning show (we measure time in KHQ programming...go figure).  Grandparents from both sides were there by 7, and we were home a little over 30 hours later.  I have a little recovering yet to do (imagine that), but it's all in the back of my mind compared to everything Vic-related.  He's so beautiful - with gorgeous silvery eyes and a full head of dark brown hair!  He's a good baby, really no trouble.  Aside from only getting an hour of sleep at a time, Billy and I are doing well.  We spend a lot of time just staring at this little miracle we made.

It took me a while to get the hang of breast-feeding and diapers, too.  Billy's a whiz (no pun intended) at diapering and swaddling, but I've never been good with excrement - so diapers are still a challenge, though I'm getting better.  Breast-feeding took awhile, and I had to do a little extra reading - but Vic and I are in a really good rhythm now.  Billy picked me up the "Mommy's Rescue Guide to Breast Feeding", and it's helped me a ton with some of my little obstacles.  So has talking with the nurses at the hospital.  They've called to check up on us a couple times since we've come home and it really has put us at ease.

Someone's hungry, so I have to cut this blog entry short...hmm...things just seem to happen that way all the time now. :)
