Sheriff searching for painkiller thief

HAYDEN, Idaho. - The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department is looking for a suspect after they say a man robbed a Hayden Rite Aid of various dosages of the painkiller Oxycontin.

Police say the man entered the store on West Prairie avenue shortly before 9 p.m. Monday. He approached a pharmacy employee, handed them a note stating that he was armed and demanded Oxycontin.

Police say the man is about 5'11" with a thin build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt that had a black Under Armour design on the front. He was also wearing a white tee shirt, dark pants and black knit stocking cap. He was last seen running from the business toward Hayden Creek Plaza.

As of Tuesday, it is unknown if this robbery is connected to a series of recent robberies of pharmacies in Spokane and Spokane Valley where Oxycontin and Hyrdocodone were stolen each time.

If you have any information regarding the robbery, you can call Secret Witness at 208-667-2111 of the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department at 208-446-1300.
