Cougar player expelled

SPOKANE, Wash. - Washington State's football team took a hit Tuesday when the school dismissed defensive tackle Andy Roof.
The 22-year-old Roof was allegedly involved in a fight at a party on Pullman's College Hill last April.
Roof had been expected to be a key performer this season, after being kicked out of WSU last year for alcohol offenses.

In response to the Washington State University Student Conduct Board's decision to dismiss senior football player Andy Roof from the University, Cougar Head Coach Paul Wulff had the following statement:

"I was very disappointed when I heard the decision," Wulff said. "Since I arrived on campus Andy has been a great leader for this program, on the field, in the locker room, in the classroom, and done everything we asked, that we ask of all student-athletes. From where he was a year ago he has changed his life around 180 degrees and as a coaching staff we have seen the positive impact he made on this program."
