WSU-Baylor game moved to Friday

PULLMAN, Wash. - Baylor officials have moved their school's game against the Cougars to Friday night to avoid complications caused by the approach of Hurricane Ike to the Texas coast.

The hurricane is currently in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to reach land this weekend.

Kickoff is now set for 5:30 p.m. Friday. Details on possible television or video webcasts of the game are being explored and will be announced as soon as possible.

The game was scheduled for Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and was to be televised nationally on Fox Sports Net. That original day and time posed potential travel problems to fans, the Washington State travel party and to television crews.

"We looked at all alternatives to be able to play this game," said Washington State University Director of Athletics Jim Sterk. "Obviously this is not the ideal situation but is the best scenario at this point given the unpredictability of the hurricane and keeping in mind the safety of all involved."

Baylor's campus is currently scheduled to remain open and operational through Friday.
