SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Spokane County deputies are searching a person who robbed a Rite-Aid pharmacy in Spokane Valley Thursday morning, and say he may be the same person who has committed several other, similar robberies recently.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s with a skinny build and dark tanned skin.  Witnesses at the Rite-Aid at 1443 N. Argonne said he wore a red hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, sunglasses and a black hat with a blue stripe. He was last seen after the robbery heading west on Mission Avenue at around 11:35 a.m.

Police investigating the robbery said the suspect handed the person at the counter a note saying he had a weapon and that he wanted Oxycontin.  The worker started walking, but was quickly corrected by the robber who said they were going the wrong way to get Oxycontin.

Witnesses to the robbery said they recognized the suspect as someone who may have been in the store before.  He was last seen walking south of the store on foot.  No getaway vehicle was seen.

The series of pharmacy robberies began in June and has included four Rite Aids and one Walgreen's Drug Store.  The Rite Aids at 5520 N. Division and the North Argonne Rite Aid have each been hit twice.

The Rite Aid in Hayden, Idaho was hit August 25th and the Rite Aid at 12115 E. Sprague was hit September 8th.  The Walgreens at 7905 N. Division was struck June 25th.

In all the robberies the suspect was described as 5'10" to six feet tall, thin, with dark complexion and some acne or other scarring on his cheek.  Witnesses have described him as Native American or Arabic, but not black.  He has always used a note to communicate his demands to his victims, and favors knit caps.

Crime Stoppers of Inland Northwest is offering a special cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s) believed to be responsible for the robberies.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Spokane Valley Police, Spokane County Sheriff's Office or Spokane Police Departments at 242-TIPS

SPOKANE, Wash. - Feel like you have to keep swatting bugs away when you've been walking outside this week? What you might be calling gnats, are really blue ash aphids. And right now they are more active than ever, because it's mating season. KHQ met a couple who noticed the blue ash aphids right when they started their walk in the park.
