Drag Racing Results from Spokane County Motorsports Park

SPOKANE, Wash. - Approximately 2,500 fans watched the drag racing season come to a close this weekend at Spokane County Mortorsports Park!  The Spokane Pro Gas Association organized drag racing events during the month of September and celebrated a roaring grand finale on Saturday, September 27.  

As usual, the gates opened bright and early Saturday morning.  Eliminations for bracket racing classes began at 1:00 p.m. with races continuing every few minutes all afternoon.  From 6:00 p.m. until midnight, street racers competed on the quarter-mile track.

    LOS ANGELES (AP) - A homeless man was charged Friday with murder in a random attack on a California father who was stabbed in the neck as his 5-year-old daughter sat in his lap in a crowded beachside steakhouse. Jamal Jackson, 49, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of 35-year-old Anthony Mele. He was being held in Ventura County jail on a $1.5 million bail.

    WICKLIFFE, Ohio (AP) - Police say a 2-year-old girl has been accidentally shot and killed by her mother at a hotel outside of Cleveland.    Wickliffe police in a statement say emergency crews were called to an Econo Lodge around 11 p.m. Friday. A police officer and paramedics tried to resuscitate the girl, who was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital.
