September drag-racing nets county check for over $40,000
SPOKANE, Wash. - It's official, the Spokane Pro Gas Association concluded four days of drag racing at Spokane County's Motorsports Park in September, and Sunday night they presented County officials with a check for $40,952.30.
The checks were presented during the Association's appreciation banquet at Northern Quest Casino. Volunteers were thanked for their hard work and enthusiasm, with special kudos for the Spokane County Commissioners, Airway Heights Mayor Matt Pederson and Jay Livingston from the Bucky Austin Racing Organization.
In addition to the check presentation, it was announce that according to the Spokane Regional Convention and Visitors bureau event formula, the four days of drag racing had an estimated economic impact of $268,438. The formula is based on a daily average attendance (participants and spectators) of 2,100 to 2,200 people.
