Pumpkin Patch and Picture Day

This past weekend we took Victor to Harvest House (http://www.greenbluffgrowers.com/map/6.html)  for a stroll through the pumpkin patch and lunch at the Harvest Festival.   It was a brisk day, so we bundled him up in his fleece pants and an adorable pumpkin sweater and hat, and wrapped him in his Cougar Gameday blanket.  I carried him in our Jeep baby-carrier as Billy and I walked around the grounds, listening to music, sampling food, and looking at local wares.  Victor slept the whole time.  That is, until we decided it was time for the "my first trip to the pumpkin patch" picture.

We found a nice spot on some hay bales with a few pumpkins - it was really picturesque.  I pulled a sleeping Victor out of the carrier on my chest and after a big stretch; I set him next to the pumpkins.  The first snapshot was an example of how tired he was - BIG yawn.  He started to fuss a little, so I picked him up and patted his back.  He was calm when I went to set him down again, but in the time it took to focus the camera, we got a great picture of how he really felt about the situation - BIG scream.   The other parents around us gave us dirty looks.  Ah, what our baby has to go through for Mom & Dad to get that perfect picture...

The perfect picture actually came by accident.  Billy handed me the camera to hold while he loaded the pumpkins into the car, and I, without looking through the viewfinder, held the camera out to my side and snapped a picture back toward the baby on my chest.  The result was an amazing shot - a close up of our precious, sleeping little boy.  Too cute!

Today was "picture day" at baby-school.  They'd been reminding us all week to dress for it.  So, this morning I put Victor in his "mini-Billy" outfit.  A pair of cargo-jeans, a red henley, a brown plaid shirt (unbuttoned), and a corduroy newsboy cap.  One of the little girls' moms brought in an adorable pink dress on a hanger.  I started to think that I should have brought Victor's outfit on a hanger - he'd blown out a diaper earlier in the week and his clothes came home in a plastic bag.  I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.  Luckily, Billy called and reported that Victor came home in the outfit he went to baby-school in (whew!), and that his teacher said Victor was a real ham for the camera.  I can't wait for the proofs!
