Home again, Home again, Jiggity-Jig

Tomorrow we are leaving to visit my family on the West side, while Uncle Kevin and Uncle Guns housesit for us.  This will be our first trip with little Victor.  Based on the way he's been reacting to his car seat lately, I'm a little concerned about how calm the 6-hour drive to the Portland area is going to be.   Sometimes Vic will conk out as soon as the car starts to rumble, but other times he'll fuss for the entire drive - so we'll have to see.

We have lots of fun planned for this trip.  First, Victor gets to meet Nana (his great-grandmother, my father's mother) and Grandpa Curly (his great-grandfather, my mother's father) for the first time.   They've only seen pictures of him until now.  These two are where Victor gets his name - his first name comes from Nana's father-in-law and his middle name comes from Grandpa Curly's last name.  We're planning on taking lots of photos and putting together a gift for both great-grandparents with those pictures.

Second, Victor has his first play-date with another baby.  My friend Jessica, who was pregnant along with me at our friend Lyndsey's wedding, and her son Nicholas will be coming over to my parents' house on Monday to play!  Jessica also writes a family blog that has lots of fun pictures and stories (and some neat links, too!).  Have a look - http://familywithgusto.blogspot.com/ .  I'm looking forward to taking some pictures of the boys playing together - I hope Nic and Vic have fun!

Third, Vic is going to get some good time in with his Grandmother - we're going to ask her to babysit while Billy and I go out too dinner.  It'll be our first date night since Victor was born (I think our last one was when we went out for fondue to celebrate our anniversary - we went to the Melting Pot downtown Spokane, and had a great time! http://www.meltingpot.com/).  We're hoping to go out to Newport Bay cafe (http://www.newportbay.com/), which is where we had Billy's birthday dinner last year - they have awesome fried oysters!

Fourth, there's a WSU Cougar game on TV this weekend, and Vic will be all decked out in his gameday gear (go Cougs!) to watch with Grandmother, PopPop, and Auntie Kelly.  Too much fun!

So cross your fingers that our vacation back home goes as planned - even though nothing really ever does when you have an infant...
