Midnight Madness comes to Gonzaga's MAC

SPOKANE, Wash. - You know it's almost basketball season when Zags fans start talking about Midnight Madness.  It's expected to be so "mad" at Gonzaga, that ESPNU has added Spokane to its list of stops this Friday.

The sports network added 30 minutes to its preseason basketball coverage this year and will make Gonzaga one of five schools highlighted on the first official night of college basketball practice.  Other highlighted schools include Davidson, Kansas, Georgetown and Indiana.

Greg Heister, the play-by-play announcer for games televised locally on KHQ-TV will be the host for Gonzaga.  He'll be joined by Stephen Bardo, who has been the analyst for the West Coast Conference Big Monday telecasts on the ESPN networks.

Activities at the McCarthey Athletic Center begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include a slam dunk contest, a 3-point shooting contest and a scrimmage involving the men's basketball team.
