Fomer Oklahoma State linebacker, Johnson signs with Spokane Shock
Rodrick Johnson signed with the Spokane Shock after being released by the New York Jets
Spokane, WA - The arena football season is still months away, but the Spokane Shock are already making moves, announcing the addition of former Oklahoma State linebacker Rodrick Johnson to their 2009 roster.
Johnson played at OSU until 2007 where he finished his collegiate career with 181 tackles, three fumble recoveries, two pass-breakups and one interception. He played both linebacker and defensive end while a Cowboy.
It's expected Johnson will compete for a spot on the Shock as a linebacker.
"Rodrick Johnson is the total package. He has the size, talent and most importantly the character we are looking for," Shackleford explained. "His ability to play linebacker and defensive end will make him the dual threat that is unique at this level. As a coaching staff we are excited to watch this kid play on a small field."
Earlier this year, Johnson signed a free-agent contract with the New York Jets before he was released. He is the thirteenth addition to the Shock's 2009 roster.
