Whitworth uses ground game to beat Puget Sound in Pine Bowl

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Whitworth Pirates ran all over the visiting Puget Sound Loggers, gaining 531 total yards on their way to a 35-7 victory at the Pine Bowl in north Spokane.

Adam Anderson (Jr., Elk, Wash) scored the Pirates' first four touchdowns and ran for a total of 214 yards.  His TDs tied a school record for the most rushing touchdowns in a single game. 

The Pirates used three different quarterbacks: Mike Peck, from Longview, Wash., started the game and went 4-4 for 27 yards; Andrew Durant, from Spokane, went 9-for-15, 91 yards and one interception; and Cub Jansen, from Mukilteo, Wash., finished 4-for -5 and 53 yards.

Whitworth's next game is in California against Menlo College.
