Lewis & Clark grad honored by WAC for defensive effort in Vandals' win
BOISE, Idaho - Idaho defensive end Josh Shaw, who helped the Vandals snap a 17-game losing streak against Western Athletic Conference foes, has been named the conference's top defensive player.
Shaw, a junior from Spokane, Wash. and a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, recorded 10 tackles, three of which amounted to losses of 18 yards, in Idaho's 20-14 victory against New Mexico State. Shaw also had two sacks and forced a fumble in the third quarter that led to a Vandal field goal.
On the season, Shaw has 25 solo tackles and ten assists. He's also notched 3 sacks, 2 quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and a blocked kick.
Idaho (2-7, 1-4) is in the middle of three straight home games and prepares this week for a Saturday matchup against San Jose State.
