Who's that baby in the mirror? - Spokane, North Idaho News & Weather KHQ.com

Who's that baby in the mirror?

This morning was an early one.  Since having the baby, every morning is an early one - but this morning was different from our routine.  Ah, the routine.  Part of baby-life is having a strict regimen during the day.  Our day tends to go as follows (barring any unforeseen events):  At 5:30am my alarm goes off.  I take (usually sleeping) Vic into the bathroom, where he sleeps in his "buzzy-seat" during my shower (sure, I could leave him in the crib and take the monitor into the bathroom, but I prefer to be able to see him).  By the time I'm dry with my hair done, he's just waking up.  He gets a diaper-change and breakfast, and then we get dressed.  Once dressed, I snap a photo with my camera-phone and send it off to my folks (I figure, if they can't physically be here more than once a month, then I'll send them a phone-picture of Vic every day so they can watch him grow on their way to work).   Vic hangs out in his swing while I start a load of laundry, load the car, and then he gets loaded in the car for baby-school.  Dad picks him up from baby-school a couple of hours later, then it's quality father-son time until I get home from work.  I fix dinner; nurse the baby, then it is bedtime for everybody.   Vic gets up around midnight, Billy changes him and I nurse him back to sleep.  He's up again at about 2:30 for the same scenario...and at 5:30 it all starts over again.

Today, Vic woke up at 5.  I had to turn off my alarm before it went off.  I had plenty of time to get our morning going, so we played a rousing game of "Who's that baby in the mirror", during which Victor shouted and laughed at the baby on the other side of the mirror.  We played another game of this after we got dressed.  He'd yell something at the baby, start laughing, and then bury his head in my shoulder, giggling away.  This went on for quite some time.  I got a few good belly laughs in during this game, too.  Watching him grow up and develop like this is so much fun.  I had no idea that motherhood would be such a hoot.  I had heard that it was a load of work, which it is, but nobody could have possibly conveyed to me how much fun it would be.

I think tonight we'll have a little more time in the mirror...maybe we'll start with "who's that kitty in the mirror"...
