Former LCHS Tiger, current Zag named to Wooden pre-season list
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga's Heather Bowman is on the Wooden Award Pre-Season Top 30 list - the first Lady Bulldog to ever be named on that list.
Bowman averaged more than 20 points and 8 rebounds a game last season, and was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year.
The junior forward, who played at Lewis and Clark High School and led the Tigers to four-straight state tournaments, is recovering from elbow surgery and expects to miss the first few games this season. She missed 5 games last year with a spiral fracture in her left hand.
Bowman shot nearly 53 percent from the field as a sophomore and scored in double figures in all but one game. Twice she grabbed 14 rebounds in a game (Nevada, UC Riverside). And she was the first player in Gonzaga history to hit 14-of-14 free throws in a game (Santa Clara).
The former LCHS Tiger still holds the record as the all-time leading scorer in the Greater Spokane League with 1,680 points, starting on the varsity squad all four years of her high school career.
