SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Firefighter injured battling the Joel Building Fire in July will be deployed to Iraq later this month.

Shawn Poole returned to work at Fire Station 4 in late October-three months ahead of the time administrators expected him to heal.

Poole suffered a torn MCL and a collapsed lung while fighting the Joel Building fire in Downtown Spokane this summer.

Shortly before he returned to work at the fire station, he received orders as an Army Major in the Army Reserves.

Poole will leave Spokane just days after Thanksgiving for a 12 month tour.

This is the firefighter's second tour in the last 3 years.
