Gonzaga signs 6'5" Mangisto Arop from Canada

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga Bulldogs on Thursday confirmed another big-time recruit has committed to play in Spokane.  Mangisto "Manny" Arop, a Sudan native, signed with the Zags.

Arop, pronounced, "rop", was born in the Sudan but currently lives in Hamilton, Ontario where he plays basketball for Canada's junior national team.  He left Sudan when he was 9-years-old to live in Kenya.  After that his family moved to Saskatchewan and later, Alberta.

The 6'5", 185-pound wing recently set a NEDA single-game scoring record this past summer in Argentina.  He scored 42 points while playing for Canada in the FIBA Americas Championship.

Arop is the second recruit this week to sign a letter of intent to play at Gonzaga.  Sam Dower, from Minnesota said Wednesday he too would become a Zag.
