Lady Zags beat Washington; Vandersloot named WCC Player of the Week
SPOKANE, Wash. - Courtney Vandersloot was named WCC Player of the Week Monday after scoring a career high 27 points in the Zags season opener against Eastern Oregon last week.
Vandersloot, a sophomore guard, followed up her strong performance in her first game with another one Saturday. She scored 20 against Washington and added six assists, five rebounds, and two steals in the Zags' second-ever win against the Huskies. It was the first time the Lady Zags had ever won at Seattle.
The Bulldogs rallied from a 46-43 deficit to win 64-59.
In two games, Vandersloot is averaging 23 points, 7 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2 steals.
Gonzaga returns to action Wednesday against Utah Valley University at the McCarthey Athletic Center.
