Just 'Peachy": Eastern's sack leader named to Big Sky All-Conference team
CHENEY, Wash. - He's done it before. He did it again. Greg Peach, defensive end from Eastern Washington, was named the Big Sky Conference's defensive MVP on Tuesday.
The senior from Vancouver, Washington led the nation with 18 sacks and 22 tackles for loss. He also set the EWU single-season sack record and fell just one sack short of tying the Big Sky single-season record. In all, he recorded 71 tackles and helped his team hold its final six opponents to under 20 points. He also led the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) in both sacks per game (1.6) and tackles for loss (2.0)
Peach is the lone player from Eastern Washington to be selected to the conference's first team. Seven players were named to the second team, and 13 were honorable mention picks. The Eagles' defensive end is currently in the running for the Buck Buchanan Award, the award given to the top defensive player in the FCS. Voting for the award is currently underway and will be announced December 18.
