Zags climb to No. 5 in AP poll

SPOKANE, Wash. - Zags fans got one more reason to celebrate on Monday afternoon: the Bulldogs climbed to No. 5 on the latest Associated Press Top 25 basketball poll.

Gonzaga beat Tennessee 83-74 Sunday night to win the Old Spice Classic at Lake Buena Vista, Florida.  Steven Gray scored 19, and Matt Bouldin added 17 to seal the win over the Volunteers.  The two teams will play each other again on Jan. 7.

The unbeaten North Carolina Tarheels (7-0) are still the top team, edging out Connecticut, Pittsburgh and Duke.

Washington State received 15 votes, but still do not show up in the Top 25.
