UW names Sarkisian head coach, Willingham's replacement
SEATTLE - Steve Sarkisian has been introduced as the new football coach at Washington, replacing Tyrone Willingham.
Athletic director Scott Woodward and school president Mark Emmert introduced Sarkisian , with Emmert saying, "We think we got our guy." Sarkisian says he can't wait to "get this thing going" and to compete for championships.
Washington is the first Pac-10 team to finish with an 0-12 record after a season-ending loss to California. Willingham was 11-37 in his four seasons with the Huskies.
More than 200 people attended Sarkisian 's news conference at Husky Stadium's Don James Center, including cheerleaders, the marching band, alumni and four students with S-A-R-K painted on their chests.
