Shock to play 2009 season regardless of what happens to AFL
SPOKANE, Wash. - With or without its parent league, the af2, which includes teams such as the Spokane Shock will play as scheduled during the 2009 season. The Arena Football League decided on Thursday to continue operations, rather than roll up the carpet due to financial strains.
The Associated Press reported the board that operates the league met on Wednesday and concluded to make long-term improvements rather than shut down.
The league has not released its 2009 schedule, and its still possible there could be big changes to the 22-year-old league.
The Shock said Wednesday in a news release it would play regardless of what happened to the AFL, because the af2 operates independently.
