On the rebound: Washington State pounces on Montana State
SEATTLE - Daven Harmeling scored 10 of his 13 points in the first half, freshman Klay Thompson chipped in with 14 points, and Washington State rebounded from two straight losses with a convincing 70-51 win over Montana State on Saturday night.
Playing its annual game at Seattle's KeyArena, Washington State (7-3) started strong behind Harmeling's early shooting and then pulled away in the second half.
Danny Piepoli led Montana State (4-4) with 14 points off the bench.
The Cougars were coming off consecutive losses to No. 22 Baylor and No. 4 Gonzaga, both at home. It was the first time WSU had lost back-to-back non-conference games since the 2004-05 season.
The Cougars made quick work of this one, jumping out to a 10-1 lead in the opening moments and never trailing after the first minute.
