Zags ready for UConn - and oh yeah - Texas Southern, too
SPOKANE, Wash. - After a disappointing loss at Arizona, Gonzaga returns home to play Texas Southern, a team that has yet to win a game this season.
The Tigers' last game was December 6 against Washington in Seattle. The Huskies beat Texas Southern 88-52. The Tigers also have similar loses to Cincinnati and Marquette.
"It's not like we've been playing Sisters of the Poor... It's hard to get emotionally charged - I think - for every game."
-Mark Few Gonzaga Head Coach
The goal for Gonzaga will be to not overlook Thursday's game at the McCarthey Athletic Center. A lot of fans - both in and outside of the Northwest - are already looking forward to Saturday's game against Connecticut in Seattle.
Connecticut is ranked No. 2 in the nation with a perfect 9-0 record. Gonzaga (7-1) is No. 8. The Zags beat Uconn last December in Boston.
Coach Mark Few said the recent road trip has been hard on his team.
"This has been a long, hard stretch for us. We haven't played at home in a month," said Few.
Time away from home is only part of it.
"It's not like we've playing Little Sisters of the Poor, either. You know, it's hard to get emotionally charged - I think - every game, and play with energy. And obviously [Arizona] played like a home team," said Few.
