CHENEY, Wash. - Spencer Johnson had 23 points and 11 rebounds Thursday night as Missouri-Kansas City handed Eastern Washington its first home loss, 68-61.
Playing in front of a sparse crowd caused by a record-breaking storm that dumped about two feet of snow on the Spokane area, the Kangaroos (5-8) pulled away from the Eagles (6-4) with a 9-0 run in the final two minutes.
Brandon Moore scored 16 points and Andy Genao 14 for Eastern Washington, which managed just one field goal in the final 7:45.
Eastern Washington grabbed its biggest lead, 26-17, with 5:35 left in the first half and led until Bakari Lewis sank one of two foul shots to give the Kangaroos a 46-45 lead with 11:21 left in the second half.
