Learn all you can about your health and become educated in screenings and tests you will need at this stage of your life.  Always ask your medical health care professional questions to stay informed.  Some recommended questions to ask include:

  • How often should I have regular checkups and when should I have specific screening tests?

  • Would I be a good candidate for hormone therapy when I reach menopause?  What alternatives are available?

  • Should I readjust my diet and exercise routine?  What do you suggest if I want to lose weight?

  • How do I know the difference between regular aches and pains and arthritis?

  • How much calcium and vitamin D should I get each day?

  • What are some ways I can reduce stress?

When visiting your health care professional for specific reasons, there are important questions to remember to ask:

  • Whom should I call to find out the test results and when should I call?
  • Why do you recommend this test or treatment?
  • Are there any other treatments or options I could take?
