SPOKANE, Wash. - The AFL's loss is Spokane's gain. With no team with which to sign, three-year Shock veteran Raul Vijil said he's coming back for a fourth season with the team.
Vijil made the announcement through the team's spokesperson on Thursday. The receiver, who played at Eastern Washington before signing with the Shock, is the franchise's all-time leader in receptions (223), touchdown catches (62), reception yardage (2,454) and all-purpose yardage (4,164).
"I'm really excited for the upcoming year," Vijil said in a news release issued by the Shock. "It's good to be in a place where the fans support you the way they do here in Spokane."
Last season, Vijil was named to the first team All-af2 after recording 107 receptions, including 35 touchdown catches for 1,212 yards.
The Shock kick off the 2009 season on April 3 at home against Stockton.
