Police investigating North Spokane Shooting

SPOKANE - City police are investigating a Saturday night shooting in North Spokane.  Officers say just before 10:00 p.m. they found a man with a gunshot wound near the intersection of Nora and Cincinnati.

Police followed a distinctive trail of blood to a home on the 700 block of E. Indiana.  Earlier in the day, police had impounded a stolen car from in front of the home.  Officers say the man who was shot actually is a suspect in the theft of that car.

The suspect's roommate reportedly called police to let them know where the stolen car was.  When the alleged car thief returned home to find the car gone, police say he attacked his roommate.  The roommate tells police he fired a round from a shotgun in self defense.  One of the bullets hit the suspected car thief in the arm.  He is expected to recover.

At this time, police are not pressing charges against the man who fired the gun.
