Mead knocks off first place Shadle

SPOKANE, Wash. - If one thing is certain in the GSL this year, it's that certainty is never for sure.  Such was the case Monday night as Mead (7-7) upset first place Shadle 59-56 on the Highlanders' home court.

How'd they do that, you ask?  The Panthers won by stopping Shadle's leading scorer, Anthony Brown.  The 6'5" senior wing scored 11 points in the first half, but was held scoreless in the second by Mead's apparently confusing zone defense.

The Highlanders scored just 9 points in the third period, and 11 points in the final period.

Ryan LaForte led the Panthers in scoring with 15.  Grant Fink added 13.

Shadle, who now hold second place in the GSL, host league-leading Gonzaga Prep Tuesday night.  The game can be heard live on, with veteran sportscaster Steve Myklebust calling the play-by-play action.
